The Bakken Museum announces outdoor summer event series

Minneapolis, MN – Today, The Bakken Museum announced their summer rooftop event series. The museum has partnered with local theatres and musicians to offer live outdoor performances on its green roof.

“The Bakken Museum’s location next to Bde Maka Ska offers a unique experience for theatre and concert-goers,” said The Bakken Museum Vice President of Programs and Operations, Joe Imholte. “We know that people are excited to connect with the arts and museums again, and the summer event series offers everything from acoustic folk music to drag queens.”

The Bakken Museum’s summer event schedule includes:

  • June 24-26 (6, 7, 8 p.m.) - Black and Funny plus Twin Cities Improv Festival Hosted by HUGE Theatre
    The Twin Cities’ annual celebration of the best of improvisation. Tickets: $15.

  • July 1 (7 p.m.) - The OK Factor
    A new-classical crossover duo, The OK Factor, is cellist Olivia Diercks and violinist Karla Colahan. Tickets: $25.

  • July 15-17 (7 p.m.) - MIXTAPE: I Forgot How to Do This presented by Wayward Theatre
    Five true stories accompanied by music and live painting. Tickets: $22

  • July 22 (7 p.m.) - Lip Service Revue
    Drag show featuring Anita Rivera, Allota Shots, Azalia Selena, Anastasia C Principle, and Barbara Gordon. Tickets: $15

  •  August 5 (7 p.m.) - jeremy messersmith
    The celebrated indie pop singer-songwriter will perform an acoustic set with bandmate Dan Lawonn on cello. Tickets: $40.

 

Event tickets include admission to the recently renovated museum’s exhibits and gardens.

In addition to the scheduled performances, the museum has coordinated with food trucks to offer dining in the museum’s courtyard most Thursday evenings from 3 to 7 p.m. and Saturday afternoons from 12 to 3 p.m.
