DISCOVERY DAYS: WOMEN IN SCIENCE

Celebrate Women's History Month at The Bakken Museum! Our popular Women in Science event is back with hands-on STEM activities presented by Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare, the University of Minnesota CBS Conservatory and Botanical Collection, the Northland Regional Chapter of the Society of Toxicology, H.B. Fuller, and more!

This event is recommended for ages 5-14, plus friends and family.

BAKKEN MUSEUM BOOK CLUB

Four Wednesdays, April 5, 12, 19, 26

Join us for a book club unlike any other. We will spend four Wednesday evenings diving into Sandeep Jauhar’s Heart: A History. Engage with concepts discussed in the literature through rare books and artifacts presented by The Bakken Museum’s curators.

SPRING BREAK AT THE BAKKEN MUSEUM

Visit the museum this spring break! The museum is open Tuesdays through Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Purchase tickets online in advance or at the time of your visit from the visitor services desk.

SCIENCE STUDIOS

Saturday and Sundays + April 4-7 // 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Science Studios are added science, technology, and art activities held on weekends and school release days. Each activity includes a step-by-step guide, and our expert staff is always on hand to help - no prior knowledge is required! Science Studio is included in the cost of admission.

SPRING BREAK CAMP

What does the ideal city look like? Students in grades 4 through 8 will explore cities worldwide during spring break camp, using innovative metropolitan areas as models. Campers will identify ways to improve these areas and, using the engineering and design process, build models of elements to create an improved city of the future.

Two sessions are available:

- Tuesday, March 28 - Friday, March 31 // 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

- Tuesday, April 4 - Friday, April 7 // 9 a.m. - 4 p.m

NOW ON DISPLAY: “FAIRY, GODDESS, WIZARD, GENIE?”

“Fairy, Goddess, Wizard, Genie?” is a collection of images of early depictions of electricity in a variety of forms. Find it on display in the Great Hall.


CALL FOR ART: RENEWAL

The Bakken Museum, in conjunction with The Show, is excited to release a call for community art submissions. Artists are invited to submit 2-D pieces that reflect the theme of “Renewal.”

SPRING EDUCATION PROGRAMS

INVENTORS CLUB

Saturdays, April 15-May 20 // Grades 4-9

During the first two weeks of this workshop, students are introduced to engineering concepts. Over the remaining four weeks, students use their new knowledge and guidance from Bakken Museum educators and volunteers to build a unique take-home project.

LEGO ROBOTICS

Saturdays, April 29-May 20 // Grades 3-6

In this four-week workshop, students build a robot using LEGO Mindstorm NXT sets. Working in pairs, students learn basic coding, build, and program a robot.
