Mark your calendar for our 2024 events, including family activities, 21+ science nights, and our behind-the-scenes book club.


Tinkering After Dark
Our educators will provide tools and assistance for you and a partner to build a customizable project. 

  • Thursday, Feb. 15 (6-8:30 p.m.) - Robot Date Night

Discovery Days
At these family-friendly events, children ages 5 through 14 and their caretakers try out activities and experiments throughout the museum. 

  • Saturday, March 23 (10 a.m.–4 p.m.) - Women in Science

  • Saturday, Dec. 14 (10 a.m.–4 p.m.) - Droid December

Bakken Book Club
Join our curators for a one-of-a-kind book club where we'll discuss Sally Adee’s We Are Electric while presenting rare books and artifacts from our collections. 

  • Wednesday, April 17 (4-6 p.m.) or Saturday, April 20 (1-3 p.m.)

Bakkenalia
Bakkenalias includes food trucks, drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic), and activities presented by museum educators and special guests. 

  • Thursday, June 6 (6-9 p.m.) - Garden Party

  • Thursday, July 18 (6-9 p.m.) - Summer Camp

Brilliant: a fundraising fête for The Bakken Museum
Our annual fundraiser! We skip the chicken dinner to give experiences of our nationally recognized programs and collections.

TINKERING AFTER DARK: ROBOT DATE NIGHT

Grab your beloved or your bestie this Valentine's week and sign up for a night of creativity and crafts with us here at The Bakken Museum! Robot kit choices include an ostrich, pig, rabbit, racehorse, or turtle.

BAKKEN MUSEUM BOOK CLUB

Wednesday, April 17 // 4-6 p.m.

Bring the pages of Sally Adee’s We Are Electric to life through rare books and historic artifacts presented by our curators. During book club, you’ll engage in conversations about the literature with other book club members and our curators.

YOUTH EDUCATION PROGRAMS

Inventors Club – Starts this Saturday, February 10
Students in grades 6-9 will design and build a unique project in the museum's makerspace during this six-week workshop.

Spring Break Camp
During Break Camps, students in grades 4-8 practice responsible innovation in the makerspace. Campers experiment with technology, code, and creativity, resulting in a take-home project they’ll be proud to show off.

Young Makers Camp
Campers entering grades 2 and 3 are invited to participate in a special half-day camp for aspiring makers and inventors. Get practice using some basic tools and learn The Bakken Museum’s invention process while designing and building a unique take-home project.

HOLIDAY HOURS: OPEN FEBRUARY 19

While the museum is usually closed on Mondays, we're holding special hours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Presidents Day, February 19. Join us for hands-on activities in Science Studio and search for LEGO Minifigures hidden throughout the museum.
