The Bakken Museum inspires a passion for innovation by exploring the potential for science, technology, and the humanities to make the world a better place.
Published by The Bakken Museum and co-edited by Executive Director David Rhees, Dreaming On With Earl Bakken is a book of stories told by and about a remarkable man. Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1924, Earl Bakken is the inventor of the first wearable, battery-operated cardiac pacemaker, co-founder of Medtronic, one of the world’s leading medical technology companies, founder of The Bakken Museum and a visionary futurist and philanthropist. Even in the midst of an amazing career that saw the growth of Medtronic from a three-stall garage to a diversified, multinational corporation, Earl always has seen further than others, founding or lending his support and vision to numerous causes and nonprofit organizations.
Dreaming On With Earl Bakken includes over 200 images and also includes stories from those close to Earl.
