Skill Builder Workshops

Join us Sundays in the workshop for a new one day program for aspiring makers and inventors. Practice and improve your maker skills while working on a one day project. Each week we will have a challenge, carpentry, coding, or circuit project kit for you to build and take home. 

Most Sundays from 12:30pm to 3:30pm

Upcoming Workshops for Fall 2017

Carpentry

Marble Machine Kit
Build a 2’ x 2’ wooden marble run frame and track.  We will provide the materials for frame, base, track, and dowels. Learn how to read a blueprint, practice using hand and electric saws. 

Recommended for ages 10 and up. (great family project!)

 

This 1 day, 3 hour workshop will be held on:

September 17th, October 15th, November 12th, December 10th

Circuits

Soldering Kit 
Learn how to solder by assembling a circuit board. Learn about circuit components, reading a circuit diagram, and practice the art of soldering electronic components to a circuit board.

Recommended for ages 8 and up.

 

This 1 day, 3 hour workshop will be held on:

September 24th, October 22nd, November 19th, December 17th

Code

Programming Neopixel Kit
Learn the basics of programming by learning to color a ring of lights you can make any color, program interesting patterns, and create your own custom light show.

Recommended for ages 10 and up. (great team project!)

 

This 1 day, 3 hour workshop will be held on:

October 1st, October 29th, November 26th

 

Challenge

Bing, Bang, Boing Game Kit 
 Build your own musical trampoline marble game. Cut the tubes to different lengths, glue dowels together to build ramps.

Recommended for ages 8 and up. 

 

This 1 day, 3 hour workshop will be held on:

October 8th, November 5th, December 3rd

 

 

 

Audience:

Youth ages 8-15+, and families

Each kit has a recommended minimum age, that is the youngest age students may attend a workshop on their own. Younger students participate when accompanied by a parent with instructor approval. 

Adults do not need to be accompanied by a child in order to make something awesome in our workshop.

Fees:

This fee covers one kit of materials and 3 hours of instruction / build time in our workshop.
Kits can be completed by individuals or in teams of up to two people.
