Wizard Workshops

Students ages 6 through 13 learn about the magic of science with three hands-on Wizard Workshops on electricity and magnetism. Great for youth groups, scouting troops, church groups and more, every wizard leaves with a project so they can continue to experiment at home. Workshops include museum exhibit visits.

Intro to Magnets Workshop (Ages 6-8)

Participants discover what a magnet is and what materials can be magnetic. Students explore the force of magnetism as they get magnets and other materials to attract and repel. They learn how compasses work and how the Earth is a giant magnet.  Every participant will receive a magnetic toy to take home.

Abracadabra Workshop (Ages 9-13)

Students explore electric circuits and all the different ways to turn lights on and off.  They learn how switches can be used for everything from burglar alarms to magic tricks.  Every wizard builds their own magic wand that lights up with a secret switch to take home.

Sparks & Shocks Workshop (Ages 9-13)

Students learn how to create static electricity and use it to make their hair stand up, confetti dance and sparks fly.  Every wizard builds their own static electricity generator to take home to continue doing experiments ranging from bending water to shocking soft drinks.
