A controversial pioneer of radio frequency medicine, Lakhovsky patented a "multiwave oscillator" in France in 1931 and in the U.S. in 1934. He claimed that disease affected the oscillating equilibrium of cells and that his multiwave oscillator using all frequencies from 3 meters to infrared was designed so that every cell could find its natural frequency and vibrate in resonance.

Lapicque, a French physiologist first introduced the term "chronaxie" in 1909 to provide a convenient index of the excitability of nervous tissues. He introduced a form of interrupted galvanic or direct current in this research on degenerative tissues that was characterized by a slow rise and fall and was trapezoid in waveform.

A pioneer of ionic medication (iontophoresis), Leduc's textbook, Les Ions ..." demonstrated how ions penetrated the body according to the laws of electrolysis. Chlorine ions were recommended for softening scar tissue, zinc ions for its antiseptic properties, lithium ions for gout and use of cocaine for giving local anaesthesia. Leduc also did pioneering work in electrophysiology showing the effect of an intermittent galvanic current on muscle and on the brain. His 1903 work laid the basis for the future treatment of brain disorders with electroshock.

Thaddeus Liberko was a chiropractor who collected these items throughout his professional life. Dated items span the period from 1926 to 1960. This collection, which also includes several artifacts accessioned as nos. 82.423.1 through 82.423.24, was purchased from the collector's son, Earl Liberko, in 1982. The materials relate to chiropractic, and in particular, to radionics.
They consist of journals, bulletins, pamphlets, minutes, newsletters, brochures, booklets, manuals, order blanks, and forms; and of advertisements, descriptions, price lists, and operating instructions for particular chiropractic instruments and equipment.
The boxes are labelled as follows: Box 1. Items pertaining to the Electronic Medical Foundation, San Francisco. Box 2. This first edition of a fundamental study on the physiology of nerve and muscle was published posthumously. Two missing chapters of the unfinished manuscript were reconstructed from Lucas' notes by his distinguished pupil E. D. Adrian. During his years at Cambridge, Lucas showed amongst other things that the contraction response of ordinary muscle fibre was an all-or-none type and determined time-relations for recovery of nerve fibre from refractory phase following recovery.
