Tips for a successful Field Trip at The Bakken

The 1st through 2nd grade options consists of a hands-on Intro to Magnets workshop and a Guided Exhibit Tour. This program is designed to support the study of electricity and magnetism at the 1-2 grade levels as recommended in the National Science Education Standards and Minnesota Academic Standards for Science.

Fees
Field trips cost $9 per student for the full 3 hour 15 minute long experience including a workshop, guided exhibit tour and time for lunch. Admission is free for teachers and up to one chaperone for every four students. Additional chaperones are charged $7 each.

Scholarships
The Bakken has restructured workshop and bus scholarships for the 2008-09 school year. The Bakken will no longer send separate bus scholarship checks to schools. Instead, the bus and workshop scholarships have been combined. Scholarships will now be awarded to offset admission costs based on the guidelines below. Scholarships are limited, so please register early.

• 40% - 59% of student population on free or reduced lunch subsidies: only $3.00 per student; a scholarship of $6.00 per student.
• 60% - 79% of student population on free or reduced lunch subsidies: only $2.00 per student; a scholarship of $7.00 per student.
• 80% - 100% of student population on free or reduced lunch subsidies: only $0.50 per student; a scholarship of $8.50 per student.
