| The
Library
The library collection includes
approximately 11,000 books, bound journals, and manuscripts.
The focus is on the historical role of electricity and magnetism
in the life sciences and medicine. This encompasses the history
of electricity, electrophysiology, and electrotherapeutics, and
their accompanying instrumentation, during the 18th, 19th, and
early 20th centuries. The library is open by appointment, 9 am
to 4.30 pm, Monday through Friday. Researchers are required to
make an appointment with the librarian, Elizabeth
Ihrig, by writing to her at the Bakken Library address, or
by calling (612)-926-3878, extension 227, or by email at ihrig@thebakken.org.
Although materials may be used only on the premises, arrangements
may be made for the production of photocopies, scans, slides,
or photographs. |
