Dip Circle
Philip Harris & Co., England circa 1900
This particular circle is of intermediate quality. It has a brass housing and glass windows, so the needle will not be disturbed by electrostatic forces or breeze. The scale is read by the naked eye. Simpler dip circles would have the magnetic needle and protractor out in the open. More complex circles would have a larger, more accurate level; and they would use a magnifier to read the dip angle more precisely. |
