Free admission!  Celebrate summer with The Bakken Museum!  The event coincides with the Minneapolis Aquatennial and begins Friday, July 16 with electrifying activities and special offers every day through Sunday, July 25.  Free admission for all guests and special museum hours during 10 Best Days of The Bakken: Sunday-Wednesday, Friday and Saturday 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; extended hours Thursday 8 a.m.-8 p.m.

Friday, July 16, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. – Inventors’ Days – Meet Nickelodeon´s Jimmy Neutron*, hang out with kid inventors, see their creations on display and program LEGO Robots to complete fun challenges. *Provided by Nickelodeon Universe at Mall of America.

Saturday, July 17, 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. – Body Electric Day – See live science theater performances of Shocking News About Your Heart while enjoying snacks provided by Whole Foods, check your heart rate on the EKG and challenge your friends and family to a battle of relaxation at the Mindball exhibit.


Sunday, July 18, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. – Wizards’ Day – Check out the magic of science and do hands-on experiments with the 3M Visiting Wizards.  Make your own Light-up Wizard’s Familiar and take a guided House & Garden Tour of The Bakken’s 1930s Tudor mansion and its spectacular medicinal gardens.


Monday, July 19, 10 a.m. 5 p.m. – Ben Franklin Day – Check out static demonstrations and see sparks fly, confetti dance and have an electrifying good time the way Ben Franklin did. Pose for hair-raising photographs by Ben himself, and take a look at an exhibition provided by the Minnesota Kite Society while making your own kite!

Tuesday, July 20, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. – Backyard Science – Learn about the amazing world of science in The Bakken’s backyard gardens by taking a garden tour. Watch an exciting and informative program put on by University of Minnesota’s Raptor Center!

Wednesday, July 21, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. – Backyard Science – Learn about the amazing world of science in The Bakken’s backyard gardens with the Minnesota Microscopy Society.  Take a guided Garden Tour of The Bakken’s spectacular medicinal gardens. Take a guided Garden Tour of The Bakken’s spectacular medicinal gardens and learn about the herbs in your own backyard with the Midwest School of Herbal Studies.

Thursday, July 22, 8 a.m.-8 p.m. – Frankenstein Fest – Have Breakfast at The Bakken with Franken Berry from General Mills and meet Frankenstein’s monster.  See live science theater performances of Finding Frankenstein and enjoy snacks from General Mills.

Friday, July 23, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. – Inventors’ Days – Meet Nickelodeon´s Jimmy Neutron*, hang out with kid inventors, see their creations on display and program LEGO Robots to complete fun challenges. *Provided by Nickelodeon Universe at Mall of America.
